Astoria residents enjoy appetizing, nutritious meals, which are prepared under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. Special diets as well as personal preferences are considered. Feeding assistance is given, as necessary, and personal feeding retraining is offered to those residents who will benefit. Therapeutic diets are provided with a physician’s order.
Astoria provides a planned program of activities, tailored to the interest and needs of each resident. Activities include something for everyone — arts and crafts, exercise classes, movies, bingo, religious services and current events, just to name a few. Our activity department schedules multiple activities daily and activities are based on individual resident needs. The activity department also plans social events and day trips out of the facility. The Activity Director meets with each new resident to determine individual preferences and to direct the resident into the post appropriate programs.
Medications are centrally stored and dispensed by a licensed nurse as ordered by the attending physician.
Social Services
The primary function of our Social Service Department is to get to know each resident and assist him or her in adjusting to our center. Social Services is the liaison between our center and the family and our department is always available for individual counseling.
Personal laundry service is available. Please check with the Admissions Department for more information.
Astoria has been specifically designed to provide a safe and secure environment for those patients who have a tendency to
wander and we offer WanderGuard bracelets for those patients with A l z h e i m e r’s Disease and related disorders. T h e
WanderGuard bracelet signals unauthorized departure of residents by setting off alarm devices which have been installed at points of entrance/exit throughout the facility. |
